AUTHORITY
When dealing with an individual whom we perceive to be an expert in a certain subject or topic, the brain will tend to extend this expertise to other areas and other topics.
It is a bit like unconsciously thinking: ‘if he is good at X, he will surely be good at Y’.
This is not always true, but you still have to take this into account in order to understand the importance of being perceived as authoritative by your interlocutors.
